[The sound of tears in Robin's voice cuts right through him, and is honestly almost enough to make him want to start crying too. But he's cried enough for five people since the news broke, and, well, he's the older one here.
His voice is soft, gentle.] Hey yourself, kiddo. I'm just checking up. Have you got yourself a room yet?
Jeez, I don’t- [ his voice cracks a little and ugh there goes two whole minutes of resolve to stay solid and composed for the duration of this conversation. For Jaime, anyway. ]
I just don’t remember much, that’s all.
[ And now that it's on his mind he’s pretty sure he’s been drugged, somehow. It would explain the grogginess and how stiff and achy his limbs are.
And why he just keeps on rambling when he knows he should stop talking now. ]
[He's not going to say so, but Jaime's not sitting down to talk anymore - instead, he's getting up, ready to move over there. He's not sure if they should have the rest of this talk over the phone.]
[ and somehow he's getting the sense that Jaime's asking about the now more than the then. but talking about that means admitting what he'd done, admitting how he'd failed, and it's too big to leave with Jaime. he knows it is. ]
Just forget I said anything. [ he should hang up now but he doesn't. ]

[ he doesn't really remember how he got here, but-
here is a thing, so. ]
You got out okay, right?
voice
[Otherwise he wouldn't be alive to talk to Robin, but - not a great subject.]
What d'you mean you think so?

...I didn't exactly have roommates before.
voice
Why not? I'm betting you couldn't just afford your own place.
voice
[ He's rambling, and he knows he is. ]
Didn't you ever make a mistake like that? I mean, a really big one?

[And as he's already halfway out the door--]
Look, have you eaten much since you've been here? Tell me where you're rooming and I'll bring you something.
voice
[ but he knows already he won't tell Jaime he can't. he leans his head miserably on his knees. ]
It's- I think it's 133?
